This is the 18th book in Wilbur Smith’s Courtney Series, in general we’ve found The Courtney Series to be a bit hit and miss,  some of the books have been spectacular and others just didn’t quite hit the spot for us personally. With all that in mind when we began reading Ghost Fire we didn’t really know what to expect from it…

It’s so rare to find an author that is able to write 12 books in the same series, never mind write twelve phenomenally brilliant books as part of the same series but Bernard Cornwell did it.  The Twelfth book in The Saxon Stories / Last Kingdom series is just as incredible as the first book is,
